While public debate and regulation may have placed weighty expectations around the vaping category, innovation in device design, consumer positioning, and even reuse components could write a new chapter for electronic nicotine-delivery systems (ENDS), say executives with Bidi Vapor, LLC.
Consumer products companies are determined to use innovation to meet the needs of adult users who want to stop or limit their use of traditional, combustible tobacco products and ENDS.
Bidi Vapor, an independent company that manufactures the Bidi™ Stick, produces a premium, self-contained disposable ENDS product, equipped with a robust age-verification system and an environmentally friendly recycling program for its used vape devices. Its mission is to ensure that adult smokers 21 and older have options as they look for a sustainable yet enjoyable vaping experience. Bidi Vapor has been marketing vaping devices in the United States since 2014.
“Our company is innovating to design and provide viable options for adults who want to use vape products and enjoy a premium experience,” says Niraj Patel, president, and CEO of Bidi Vapor, based in Melbourne, Fla.
The Bidi Stick is unique within the disposable-vape category. It is a premium product with medical-grade parts, streamlined design, and e-liquid formulation combined to provide a consistent, quality vaping experience. From mouthpiece configuration to compound mixture, to strict adult-only online and brick-and-mortar sales requirements, Bidi Vapor has created an ENDS solution geared explicitly to smokers who are 21 and older.
In U.S. markets, Bidi Vapor sells products primarily through national convenience stores on Bidi Vapor’s website and the digital convenience store, GoPuff. Bidi Vapor requires all its retail partners to sign a Retailer Pledge and customers must provide valid government-issued identification to prove age eligibility. For online customers, Bidi Vapor has implemented robust multi-level age-verification processes to ensure that only adults age 21 and older can purchase the product.
The customer’s age and identity are verified by a third-party service provider, AgeChecker.Net, which provides state-of-the-art age verification services to online stores that sell age-restricted products, including tobacco and e-cigarettes. To verify that the age of a potential customer is 21 or older, the system uses intelligent-matching technology to match the name, address, and date of birth provided by the customer to information contained in an extensive database of trusted public records from various public data sources. Upon checkout, the AgeChecker.Net system verifies that the billing address on the personal check or credit card offered for payment by the purchaser matches the address listed in its database. As another layer of authentication, Bidi Vapor will call customers within 24 hours after their website purchase, and prior to shipping the order. This is to confirm that the registered, 21-and-older adult account holder truly is the person who initiated the transaction. Then finally, Bidi Vapor requires a valid identification check with the customer’s signature upon product delivery.
Bidi Vapor, a pioneer in recycling, has developed an environmentally friendly recycling program, Bidi™ Cares, encouraging its customers to return their used vaping devices so the used devices can be recycled. “Because cartridges and many e-cigarettes are disposable, the vaping industry, in particular, should prioritize sustainability and recycling,” Patel says.
